The visible particulate issue in this sort of smokes is most commonly made up of carbon (soot). Other particulates might be made up of drops of condensed tar, or reliable particles of ash. The presence of metals inside the gasoline yields particles of steel oxides. Particles of inorganic salts can also be fashioned, e.g. ammonium sulfate, ammonium
